COVID Vaccination Update

Dated: 25-Feb-21

The Health Triangle Primary Care Network (PCN) comprises three GP surgeries; Ringmead Medical Practice, Evergreen Practice and Crownwood Medical Centre. The Health Triangle are delivering the Covid Vaccinations to their patients and local paid Health Care Workers as per the NHS and Government guidelines and priority groups. The clinics are organised and invites sent as we receive supplies of the vaccine and have always had all appointments taken up by those who have been invited. There has been an impact on the delivery of the programme because of the constraint of limited vaccination supply rather than our capacity to vaccinate.

The NHS and CCG inform us of how to move through the groups and make the supplies available (The CQC are not involved in this). We have invited all patients who, according to Practice records, are in Priority Groups 1-5 for vaccination and have vaccinated all who have responded to the invitation. We have started to send invitations to those in Priority Group 6. However, with limited supplies being made available to the PCN and this group of patients, you can appreciate, number in the thousands, we have staggered the sending of the invitations. Rest assured, we are working through group 6 as quickly as we can and you will receive your invitation from us (by text or phone call) as soon as we know our delivery dates. We have received reassuring news that the vaccine supply is going to increase significantly so hopefully we will be able to vaccinate the whole of our population within the next few months.

The second dose will be administered as per NHS guidelines, at roughly 11-12 weeks, and patients will be contacted directly when they are due. In order to avoid speculation and misunderstanding about our services since day one of being given the greenlight in becoming a vaccinating centre, our ethos has always been to ensure vaccinating every patient as soon as possible with the supply of vaccine available to us (and in line with NHS England and the CCG), and not been driven by any other reason than risk reduction for all of the population, and certainly not financial.

We ask for your patience. Patients in the relevant groups will be invited as per the programme, by letter or by text, by the PCN or by the NHS, as we are working hard to ensure there is no delay nor any patient missed. If you are a patient within Priority Group 1-5 who is yet to have their first vaccination, please get in touch with us urgently so we can book your appointment. We are very grateful to all the staff and volunteers working in our vaccination centre who have given up their time voluntarily to deliver this very important service for the public.
